Did You Know That People Thought These Animals Are Evil? | Viral Storm
Animals have often been victims of human superstition. In different cultures, some of them were considered a good sign, and some were considered to be messengers of evil.
Here is the list of animals that people thought were evil and represent bad omen
1.Snipes
It is hard to imagine that a bird with such a harmless appearance could be considered evil. However, the sound it emits scares the living daylight out of the inhabitants of Chatham Island. This bird that is no longer than 20 centimeters sounds like a nightmare creature in the evening. To the Maori, she sounded so scary, that they imagined her as a huge colorful predator bird, and her song was interpreted as a bad sign or a sign of war.

2.Owls
Although they were often a symbol of wisdom, owls are also associated with negative beliefs. In the Middle Ages, they, like many other nocturnal creatures, were associated with evil. At that time, people could not explain how nocturnal animals could move in the dark. Some Native American tribes consider them heralds of death.
3.Cats
Cats were often a symbol of evil in the Middle Ages. Their excellent night vision, hunting skills, and cunning nature were not popular with Christians. Even today, black cats are considered a bad sign by many, so superstitious people do not like to see them, let alone let a black cat cross their path.
4.Rabbits
In 18th century Sweden, people believed that witches often took the form of rabbits, and then would sneak around farms and kill cows.
5.Frogs
In the Middle Ages, frogs were considered to be extremely dirty animals. What bothered the believers of the Christian church the most was their sexual activity.
