Gas ejection occurs at high speed, and since the galaxy also creates stars very quickly, hundreds of times faster than our Milky Way, the remaining gas will be consumed quickly. “I was thrilled to discover such an extraordinary galaxy. Also, I was convinced that there are certain processes that can teach us how distant galaxies work and how their evolution actually goes,” said Anagracia Puglisi.
Since the galaxy discovered by researchers via the ALMA system is 9 billion light-years away, astronomers actually recorded an event that they say occurred at a young stage in space, when it was “only” 4.5 billion years old.
Also, scientists believe that there is currently no danger of extinction for our galaxy and that it is unlikely that something similar could happen in the next few billion years.
